National Adverse Drug Reaction Advisory Committee (NADRAC)
was created in 1994 to ensure safety of drug products and
other therapeutic agent through nationwide postmarketing monitoring
of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR). It was also established to
provide technical assistance to BFAD in the evaluation of
these reports. NADRAC was composed of a chairperson assisted
by a vice-chair and secretary. All members were appointed
by the Secretary of Health. Representatives were selected
from the academe, clinical sector, and the BFAD itself.
Presently, it is envisioned to go beyond its present functions
to include dissemination of drug related events whether harmful
or beneficial and to provide a venue for interaction with
prescribers of pharmaceutical products.
